Ashley Furniture recalls ‘party time collection’ because of fire hazard related to cup holder

Ashley Furniture has recalled the "party time collection" of recliners, sofas and loveseats because the cup holders have LED lighting that may overheat and cause a fire.
The furniture was sold at Ashley HomeStores and other furniture stores as well as online from November 2018 through March 2023 for prices ranging from $900 to $1,800, according to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall includes 253,000 pieces.
"The company is aware of six reports of the cupholder with LED lighting overheating, resulting in fire and smoke damage and damaged furniture. No injuries have been reported."
Recalled are Signature Design by Ashley Furniture Industries, Party Time Loveseats, Sofas and Recliners. "The Power Recliners are power reclining faux leather home seating units with power controls and integrated LED lighting and USB charging ports. They are sold in black and white colors."

People who own the recalled furniture are advised to unplug them and contact Ashley Furniture for a free repair.
